Died Oct. 20, 2006

Helen Alberta Fail, 72, formerly of Goldsboro, died Friday at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. She was the daughter of the late Needham Winston and Mary Wilkins Fail of Goldsboro. Mrs. Fail was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

She graduated from Goldsboro High School in 1954 and finished in the top 10 of her class. She had the distinction of being a student in Andy Griffith's art and music class. After high school, she completed a study course in beauty and cosmetics, and worked for several years as a beautician. She relocated to Greensboro, where she worked for First Union Bank until she retired. After retirement, she moved back to Goldsboro to care for her aging mother. Helen was a life-long Presbyterian and a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Goldsboro.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Drew Clark officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Surviving are sisters Lula Carlson of Goldsboro, Rena Jones of Greensboro, Louise Kesslick and husband, Bob, of Greensboro; brothers, Ralph Fail of Gastonia, Faison Fail and wife, Ann, of Fayetteville, and Jack Fail and wife, Dena, of Greensboro; 30 nieces and nephews and 18 great-nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the First Presbyterian Church Good Samaritan Fund, 1101 E. Ash Street, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6 until 8 p.m.
