REV. THURMAN DAVIS

The Rev. Thurman Lee Davis, 58, of 100 Cross Cut Place, Goldsboro, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Wayne County, Davis graduated with the Dillard High School class of 1966. After graduating, he attended Mount Olive College, St. Augustine College and Goldsboro Disciples Institute.

He was an associate minister at St. Mark Church of Christ, where he served as pastor's assistant and Bible study leader; he was ordained a minister in 2004.

He was the owner of the We Care Agency, and was soon employed at Wayne Memorial Hospital as a nursing assistant. He was also a Wayne County Public School substitute teacher, and a North Carolina prison volunteer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Ernestine Johnson Davis.

The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Church of Christ, with Bishop Alton Smith officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Wayne Memorial Park.

Davis is survived by his wife, Linda Cogdell-Davis; sons, Christmas Whitfield Davis of the home, Christopher Bell of Greensboro, Brian Thompson of Goldsboro, Albert Bell of Raleigh; daughters, Angela Shepherd Wright, Vanity Davis, Keisha McDuffie and Burnetta Barnes, all of Goldsboro; his brother, Herman Davis, of Goldsboro; and 13 grandchildren.

The viewing will be held Wednesday from 2 until 6 at McIntyre Funeral Home

Flowers and contributions to St. Mark Church of Christ in memory of Davis will be accepted.
