Harry William Eikenberry, 82, of 627 Lake Shore Drive died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Eikenberry was born in Indianapolis, Ind., to the late William Eikenberry and Frieda Ernsting Eikenberry. He was a chemical engineering graduate of Purdue University. Mr. Eikenberry also attended Notre Dame University and Harvard A.M.P. Business School. He served as a combat engineer officer during World War II. Mr. Eikenberry retired as President of Hevi-Duty Electric after twenty four years of service. He was an accomplished private airplane pilot with over five thousand flying hours as pilot-in-command.

Graveside services will be Sunday at 3:30 p.m., at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Tom Norris, O.S.F.S. officiating.

Mr. Eikenberry is survived by his wife, Anna Dughi Eikenberry; his son, Lt. Gen. Karl W. Eikenberry, U. S. Commander in Afganistan, and wife, Ching, of Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; his daughter, Karen Eikenberry Glaubiger, and husband, Dr. George A. Gaulbiger, of Raleigh; his stepsons, John David Shannon, and wife, Carol, of Raleigh; John B. Shannon and wife Shannon, of Dallas, Texas; his stepdaughter, Elizabeth S. Mitchell and husband Fred, of Goldsboro; and six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
