EDWINA S. KORNEGAY

CALYPSO - Cora Edwina Sutton Kornegay, 101, of 152 Edwina Kornegay Road, died Friday night at the home of her son.

A life-long resident of Calypso, she was a member of the Calypso Presbyterian Church. She was the daughter of the late Edward Bizzell Sutton and Fannie Lola Hood Sutton, the widow of Hervy Battle Kornegay, and was also preceded in death by two brothers, E. B. Sutton and Maurice Sutton, along with several infant siblings.

A service in celebration of her long and fruitful life will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Calypso Presbyterian Church led by the Rev. Chris Currie. Following the service, a time of fellowship will be shared in the fellowship hall of the church.

Mrs. Kornegay is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Hervy Basil Kornegay Sr., and Deborah K. Kornegay of Calypso; seven grandchildren, Sara Lynn Kornegay Herring and husband, Rick, of Calypso, Carolyn Kornegay and husband, Dr. Michael Ponder, of Johnson City, Tenn., Dr. Hervy Basil Kornegay, Jr. and wife, Vicki, of Goldsboro, Dr. Christopher Chad Kornegay and wife, Kelly, of Greenville, Dr. Jeffrey Todd Kornegay and fiancée, Jennifer Russell, both of Greenville, Jonathan Hargett Kornegay, of Greenville, and Paul Robert Kornegay of Calypso; eight great-grandchildren, Sara Herring, Ashton Herring, Jayne Ponder, Michael Hervy Ponder, Laurelyn Ruth Ponder, Brittney Kornegay, Jordan Basil Kornegay, and Hannah Kornegay; and a sister-in-law, Julia Grantham Sutton of Calypso.

In lieu of flowers, the Kornegay family requests that memorial gifts be made to one of the following: Mount Olive Family Medicine Center Foundation, 201 N.
