Sarah Cherry Alston, 72, died Tuesday at Harlem Hospital, N.Y.
A native of Goldsboro, she was the daughter of the late Joe and Estella Townsend Cherry. Ms. Alston was a 1955 graduate of Dillard High School.
She is survived by daughter, Sharon Alston, of New York; sisters, Janie Hardon and Josephine Brown, both of New York, Pervella Core, Mabel Cherry and Earlene Hobbs, all of Goldsboro; brother, Haybert Cherry, of Goldsboro; and three grandchildren in New York.
Family and friends are being received at the home of Pervella Core, 106 Hooks River Road. The arrangements are incomplete with Owen Funeral Services.
