PIKEVILLE -- Jesse James Hawley Jr., 78, 1499 N.C. 581 North, died Wednesday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Ken Spivey and the Rev. Albert Rollins officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Hawley was born in Johnston County to the late Jesse James Hawley Sr. and Thannie Cuddington Hawley.
He had retired from General Electric with 20 years of service and was the owner and operator of Hawley Motor Sales. He was a member of Nahunta Friends Meeting.
Mr. Hawley is survived by his wife, Anne Grant Hawley; his sons, Steve Hawley and wife, Debby, of Fremont, Derwin Hawley and wife, Anna Rose, of Toledo, Ohio, and Charles Hawley and wife, Clytee, of Kenly; his brothers, Ray Hawley and Wreb Hawley of Raleigh and O.L. Starling of Goldsboro; and his grandchildren, Emory Hawley, Shane Hawley, David Hawley, Ethan Hawley, Christina Hawley, Mitchell Hawley and John Hawley.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Marie Williams and Ruth Odom.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Nahunta Friends Meeting, 2537 N.C. 581 North, Pikeville, 27863.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at his residence.
