CAPE CARTERET -- Elizabeth "Bibby" Tillman Huggins, 77, 306 Dolphin St., died Monday morning at Craven Memorial Hospital.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive with her grandson, the Rev. Chris Futrelle, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Tyndall Funeral Home Thursday from 1:30 p.m. until funeral time.

A native of Mount Olive, she was one of 13 children born to the late William Henry and Jay Gola Summerlin Tillman.

She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9960 in Swansboro where she was very active, having held many offices and serving on various committees through her years of service. She was chairperson of its cancer aid research committee.

She is survived by her husband, Ervin H. Huggins of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Larry Futrelle of Abilene, Texas; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Angela Adams of Cape Carteret and Jessie and Barbara Adams of Lakeland, Fla.; a brother, Ted Tillman of Goldsboro; two sisters, Doris T. Sloan of Wilmington and Louise T. Thompson of Goldsboro; six grandchildren, Jimmy Futrelle of Big Spring, Texas, the Rev. Chris Futrelle of Tupela, Miss., Eric Futrelle of Abilene, Amanda Adams of Raleigh and Josh Adams and Chelsey Alverado of Cape Carteret; and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to Cancer Aid Research Foundation c/o VFW Post 9960 Ladies Auxiliary, 246 VFW Road, Swansboro, 28584, attn: Secretary.

Arrangements are being handled by Tyndall Funeral Home of Mount Olive.
