BEATRICE G. PETTAWAY

Beatrice Green Pettaway was born in Greene County Dec. 4, 1919, to the late William Cicero Green and Beatrice Mitchell Green. She departed this earthly home Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2006.

Beatrice Green Pettaway accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age in her life and she was a faithful member of Saint Delight Missionary Baptist Church for many years until her health began to fail her.

She was married to the late Arthur G. "Chinny" Pettaway and to this union six children were born -- two sons and four daughters. She was preceded in death by her husband and grandson, Arthur Lamonte Pettaway.

She leaves to cherish her memory, sons, Percy Pettaway and wife, Daisy, and Arthur Pettaway and wife, Mittie, of Forestville, Md.; daughters, Carolyn Lofton and husband, Hugh, of Oakland, Calif., Joyce M. Partee and husband, William Sr. of Greensboro, Patricia Pettaway of Silver Springs, Md., and Donna Pettaway of Eden.

She also leaves five grandsons; three granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; one aunt, Minerva Mitchell Evans of Walstonburg; two sisters-in-law, Alice Jean Williams of Hyattsville, Md., and Lillian Pettaway of Snow Hill; and a host of very special nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral arrangements will be entrusted to Hamilton Funeral Chapel of Goldsboro. The service will be held at St. Delight Missionary Baptist Church in Walstonburg Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006, at 1 p.m. A wake will be held from noon until 1 p.m.
