SALISBURY — The Rev. Bobbie H. Belcher died Sunday.

Rev. Belcher faithfully served the Lord during his life as a pastor at Good Hope Baptist Church in Grove Hill, Ala., Union Baptist Church in Magnolia, Miss., Immanuel Baptist Church in Salisbury, Md., Southside Baptist Church in Chesapeake, Va., Calvary Baptist Church in Gastonia, and a director of missions in Goldsboro.

He also served as interim pastor of Deep Run Baptist Church in Deep Run and a retired minister to senior adults at Immanuel Baptist Church in Salisbury. He was currently an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Salisbury.

He was born in Norfolk, Va., in 1929, the baby of eight children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Edith and George Belcher/Rothe and six of his seven brothers and sisters; James Belcher, Eugenia Basye, Virginia Barnes, Katherine Evans, Thomas Belcher and Woodrow Belcher.

He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Gray.

He had served our country in the Coast Guard. While in the service he felt the call of our Lord’s ministry and studied to prepare for His work at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

The Rev. Belcher is survived by his wife of 58 years, Irene; and his four daughters; Sharon and Russ, Belcher/Erwin of Salisbury, Brenda and Lynn, Belcher/Lowery of Greenville, S.C, Deborah and Ken, Belcher/Finlay of Chesapeake, and Ruth and David, Belcher/Lundblom of Norfolk.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren; John Jenkins and Michele/Joseph Sessoms of Salisbury, David andVicki Lowery of Greenville, S.C,, Mark and Sara Lowery of Malmo, Sweden, Bruce and Linda Finlay, Kristina and Brandon Thompson and James Finlayl of Chesapeake and Samantha and Chris Scott of Norfolk.

He has eight great grandchildren; Michaela, Victoria, Kenneth Robert, Elizabeth, Abigail, Samantha, Alexis, Anthony, Payton and Maddi, as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

His family will be celebrating his life with the family visitation at Holloway Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m., followed by a celebration service at Immanuel Baptist Church in Salisbury Wednesday at 10 a.m.

A family visitation will be held at Graham Funeral Home in Chesapeake Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and a grave sideservice will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Norfolk Thursday at 11 a.m.

The Rev. Belcher and his family would ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be sent to the Missions’ program in memory of the Rev. Bobbie H. Belcher at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1514 Old Ocean City Road, Salisbury, Md.,21804.
