MARGARET S. DAW

Died Sept. 16, 2006

PIKEVILLE -- Margaret Erion Daw passed away Saturday at Wake Medical Center. She new resides with her Lord and Savior and her beloved husband, Marvin.

The funeral will be held today at 7 p.m. at Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Dock Hobbs and the Rev. Mike Williams officiating. Interment will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Daw was the daughter of the late Reginald Vaughn Sox and Adele Sox and was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin C. Daw.

She was a lifetime member of Free Chapel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. Mrs. Daw has provided motherly protection and heartfelt love to all of her family. She sacrificed her own wants of material things to ensure that her sons came first and had everything they needed as they grew up from babies to men. She was like a mama bear guarding and caring for her cubs.

She raised four sons on a farm and gave them her sole constant attention and guidance. There has never been more love given from a mother to her children than what Mrs. Daw gave her four sons and grandchildren. She provided her husband Marvin with dedicated love and affection for 52 years of marriage until his death in 2002.

Her last years were spent comfortably and independently making daily calls to her sister, having visits from her large family, tending to her flowers and taking care of her dog, Hank. As she did not drive, her daughter-in-law, Diane, taxied her to all her doctor appointments, shopping and any other places she wanted to go.

She was most happy driving a golf cart and fishing when she could at Blounts Creek. Mrs. Daw leaves behind her a legacy of a large family that loves and respects others. She was our teacher, mentor, protector, leader and mother.

She is survived by a sister, Billie Raye Lynn; four sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Phyllis Daw, Mark and Diane Daw, Tony and Linda Daw and Tim and Robin Daw.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Renee Smith, Jeff Daw, Bobby Daw, Lindsay Cashwell, Melissa Carlson, Lacey Daw and Brandon Daw. She has three stepgrandchildren, Cami Jones, Derick Games and Brandon Bond.

In addition, she loved her great-grandchildren, Marlie Smith, Macy Margaret Smith, Samantha Daw, Christopher Daw, Madison Daw, Jurney Rouse, Shelby Lynn Daw, Dawson Cashwell and Mykenski Cashwell. Added is a dear devoted friend, Margie Games.

The family will receive friends tonight following the service. At other times, they will be at the home of her son, Mark Daw, 1166 Saulston Road, Goldsboro.
