Timothy "Tim" Gregory, 48, of 106 East Westwood Drive went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Homegoing services were held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. Pastor Gerald Hollamon and the Rev. Charles Overton officiated. Burial followed at Wayne Memorial Park with military honors.

Tim was born in Wayne County to George Gregory of Goldsboro and the late Edna Overton Stiffler. He was a 1976 graduate of Goldsboro High School and was honorably discharged from the United States Marines. Tim was employed with Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro for the past six years and Shackleford-Howell Funeral Home in Fremont, where he was a certified crematory operator technician. He was also employed as a corrections officer with the North Carolina Department of Neuse Corrections for the past seven years, where he served on the PERT team. Tim was an umpire and also worked with Coach Elvin James of Goldsboro High School, helping him coach football. He loved sports and was true to his high school. Tim was a past volunteer with the Rosewood Fire Department and was a former member of Liberty Pentecostal Holiness Church. He was a devoted, compassionate and loving person who had a heart full of love and will be greatly missed by all of those who knew him.

Tim was a devoted husband and father to his loving wife, Pamela Gregory, and two sons, Christopher Gregory and his fiancée, Kristina Mills of Goldsboro, and Ricky Gregory of the home; three sisters, Phyllis Godwin and her husband, Brent, of Princeton, Kay Waters and her husband, Linwood, of Grantham, Beverly Fenech and her husband, Bryan, of Goldsboro; five brothers, Ronnie Gregory and his wife, Mary, of Burlington, Jackie Gregory of Goldsboro, Donald Gregory and his wife, Belinda, of Calypso, Charlie Gregory and his wife, Sandy, of Fremont and Steve Gregory of Goldsboro; his mother and father-in-law, Pat and Donnie Littleton of Goldsboro, Ina and James Garnett of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; three brother-in-laws, James Garnett and his wife, Sharon, of Montana, Chet Garnett and wife, Rita, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Michael Garnett and his fiancée, Wendy Joyner, of Clayton; two step-brother-in-laws, Gary H. Littleton and his wife, Virginia, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Dannie Littleton and his wife, Joanne, of Goldsboro; many close friends, including Stephen and Heather Howell, nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.

Tim was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Edna Overton Stiffler and Sam Stiffler.

The family received friends on Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro and other times at his residence.
