Merlin Sutton, of 203 Pleasant Pine Dr. Goldsboro died Wednesday in Lumberton as a result of a trucking accident.

The funeral will take place at 1 p.m. Monday at Bear Creek Association Headquarters, with Bishop Steve L. Head officiating. The burial will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

Born in Lenoir County, Mr. Sutton was a member of Reconciliation Church of Christ, where served as deacon and Sunday school superintendent. He was also the owner of Sutton and Sons Trucking and a 1992 graduate of Greene Central High School.

Mr. Sutton was preceded in death by his father, Charles McNair, and maternal grandmother, Janie Bell Sutton.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Holmes Sutton, of the home; daughter, Zanyiah Sutton, of the home; sons, Merlin Sutton Jr. and Zebulious Sutton, of the home; mother, Pauline Sutton of Snow Hill; spiritual parents, Bishop Steve L. Head and Evangelist Sheila Head; sister, Precilla Sutton of Snow Hill; brothers, his twin, Melvin Sutton of Snow Hill, and Sylvester Sutton of Snow Hill; mother-in-law, Linda Holmes, Goldsboro; paternal grandmother, Mary McNair of Snow Hill; aunts, Zeabie Wilson of Snow Hill, Hattie Wilson of Snow Hill, Martha Staten of Snow Hill; and other relatives and friends.

The viewing will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the McIntyre Funeral Home Ministries.
