Lonnie Rackley Jr., 73, of 909 West Cole St., Dunn, died Tuesday at his residence following a short illness.

Mr. Rackley was born in Sampson County to the late Lonnie and Nettie Hairr Rackley. He was a retired Belk manager after 42 years of service in the Mt. Olive area, and was a member of the Gospel Tabernacle Church in Dunn.

Mr. Rackley completed a diploma at Carter Bible College in Christian Ministries and served as a deacon at Miller's Chapel Church, as well as a former Exchange Club and Rotary Club member.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m., Friday at Gospel Tabernacle Church with the Rev. Ken Milliken and Rev. Danielle Maynor officiating. The graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday a Memorial Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Howell Rackley, of the home; two daughters, Sharrom Rose Dowless, of Little River, S.C., and Karron R. Boyles of Dunn; four grandchildren, Natalie Price, of Atlanta Ga., Jonathan Altman, of Dunn, Jennifer Rose, of New Bern, and Lindsey Rose, of Boone; one great grandchild, Caleb Price; one brother, Louis Rackley, of Clinton; two sisters, Elizabeth Pate, of Clinton, Esther Bradshaw, of Clinton.

The family will receive friends after the service Friday evening at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Gospel Tabernacle Church, or to Operations Teaching Tools of Rose Boyd Ministries. Checks may be sent to Gospel Tabernacle Church in Dunn.
