Died Sept. 5, 2006

John Paul Jones, 86, 212 Forest Circle, formerly of Leicester, died Tuesday morning at his home surrounded by his loving family.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Bell United Methodist Church of Leicester. He will lie in state at the church from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church following interment.

Mr. Jones was born in Buncombe County to the late B. Frank and Vienna Waldrop Jones, the youngest of eight children.

He was a member of Bell United Methodist Church in Leicester. A veteran of World War II, he was employed by Hajoca Corp. of Asheville for more than 30 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jessie Huntsinger Jones, who passed away Nov. 30, 2005. To this union was born two daughters and a son, Linda Clark, Joyce Sizemore and husband, Mike, and Roger Jones of Goldsboro.

He is also survived by six grandchildren, Jeff Laster and wife, Sandy, of Pikeville, Stephen Sizemore and wife, Connie, of Hayesville, Bryan Sizemore and wife, Jennifer, of Fairview, Heather Brown and husband, David, of Selma and Scott Jones and Michelle Jones of Fairview; seven great-grandchildren, Randy and Robby Laster, Colby, Sarah and Lacee Sizemore, Ashley Osborn and Courtney Sizemore; a sister, Fina Whitner of Leicester; a brother, Mont Jones and wife, Ella Mae, of Leicester; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Jones, and four brothers, George, Clinton, Wayne and Charlie Jones.

Mr. Jones will lie in state at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Thursday.

The family will receive friends at the home Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m.

Flowers are welcome; however, donations in his memory may be made to Bell United Methodist Church cemetery fund, Newfound Road, Leicester, or Home Health and Hospice, 2402 Wayne Memorial Dr., Goldsboro, 27534.
