HELEN C. SCHMITT

Mrs. Helen Carter Schmitt, 93, formerly of Goldsboro, died Saturday morning at the home of her daughter in Columbia, S.C.
Mrs. Schmitt was born in Greene County on May 27, 1913, to the late Barry Carter and Polly Ham Carter. She was married to the late James Carlisle and the late Louie Schmitt. Mrs. Schmitt was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Norman Ard officiating. Burial will follow in Snow Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Schmitt is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth York and her husband, Floyd, of Columbia; her sister, Grace Stevenson of Goldsboro; her grandchildren, Susan Allen, Billy York, Jim York, Sarah Tison, Cathy Eubanks, Brent Wiggins and Randy Wiggins; her great-grandchildren, Ashley Davis, Elise Tison, Rachel Tison, John David Tison, Jimmy York, Jordan York, Justin Eubanks, Jeffrey Carlisle, Courtney Wiggins, Hunter Wiggins and Brandon Wiggins; and a great-great-grandchild, Jackson Davis.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Willard Carlisle and Maynard Carlisle.
Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church, 604 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at the home of her sister, Grace Stevenson, 1611 Rose St., Goldsboro.
