LINDA P. BALLANCE

KENLY -- Linda Pope Ballance died Tuesday evening 36 years after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Coley Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. George Arant officiating and members of area Primitive Baptist Churches singing hymns. Burial will be in Kenly Cemetery.

She was active in civic affairs in Raleigh and contributed much to her community.

She was born Jan. 1, 1945, to Mavis Pittman Pope and the late John Ed Pope.

She is survived by her husband, George Ballance Jr.; and son, Michael W. Ballance of Cary; a daughter, Deanna Ballance Mitchell of Rolesville; a brother, John Ed Pope of Kenly; and four grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Coley Funeral Home of Kenly.
