DAVIS BENTON
Died Aug. 23, 2006
The Rev. Davis Benton, 74, of Clinton, died at Sampson Regional Medical Center, Wednesday.
Funeral services will be held at Salemburg Baptist Church Friday at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Jeff Roberts and Rev. Michael Shook officiating. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Born in 1932 in Sampson County, the Rev. Benton was the son of the late Willie Reeves and Viola Lockerman Benton. He was pastor of White Oak Baptist Church. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jeanette Ivey Benton; one son, Stephen Davis Benton of Indianapolis, Ind.; one sister, Emma Gray Owen of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Jonathan Davis Eatman, Justin Henderson Eatman, Jason W. Miles and Brandy M. Miles; one great-granddaughter, Madelyn Ann Miles
He was preceded in death by daughter, Deborah Benton Eatman, two sisters and three brothers.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Royal-Hall Funeral Home and other times at his home.
