LAGRANGE -- Nellie Burroughs Ellis, 84, 232 LaGrange Road, died Monday at the Brian Center.
The funeral will be held tonight at 7 at Rouse Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Grady and the Rev. Willard Hardison officiating. Interment will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery.
She was born in Lenoir County to the late Jake and Neva Rouse Burroughs and was the wife of the late Marvin Van Ellis.
She was preceded in death by a son, Buren Ellis.
Mrs. Ellis was a member of Woods Grove Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. She was a retired sales clerk having worked 15 years at Diana Shop and 15 years at Woolworth's.
She is survived by a son and two daughters-in-law, Jim Ellis and wife, Dorothy, of Goldsboro and Hilda Ellis of Pikeville; a sister, Ruby Aycock of LaGrange; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends tonight following the service. At other times, they will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Ellis, 232 LaGrange Rd., LaGrange.
Arrangements are being handled by Rouse Funeral Home of LaGrange.
