Dalton Ray "Fat Back" Darden, 8, died Saturday.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Doug Seymour officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park. The family requests no ties and casual dress for the funeral.
He was born in Wayne County to James Darden and Krystal H. Cummings and was preceded in death by his great-grandfather, Willie "Pee Paw" Darden.
He was a rising third-grader at Rosewood Elementary School and attended Blended Life Fellowship Church.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, James and Kandie Darden of Princeton; his mother, Krystal Cummings and fiancé, Jason Crawford, of Dudley; his grandparents, Willie Junior Darden and fiancee, Wanda Babb, of Mount Olive, Norma Jean Williams of Dudley, Tom and Kathy Holland of Princeton, Luther Laws of Goldsboro and Sandy and Sharon Crawford of Dudley; his great-grandparents, Leroy and Sudie Mae Jones; five brothers, Dustin "Bay Bay" Darden, James Lewis Darden, Cody White, Austin Cummings and Austin Crawford of Princeton; two sisters, Terri Darden of Dudley and Kayla Walker of Princeton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will greet friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home of his father, James Darden, 102 Austin Dr., Princeton.
