GLADYS BLACKMAN

Gladys Powell Blackman, 80, of the Grantham community, died Thursday morning at her home.

Mrs. Blackman was born in Johnston County to the late Ealey Powell and Elenor Lee Powell, and was married to the late H. Paul Blackman. She was an active member of Falling Creek Baptist Church, where she taught the young boys' Sunday school class for many years.

The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Aubrey Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Blackman is survived by her sisters, Esther P. Thornton of Newton Grove, Eva P. Jones of Newton Grove, Lucille P. Britt of Newton Grove, Eloise P. Warren of Clinton; her brothers, R.E. Powell of Newport, D.H. Powell of Fayetteville, Joe Powell of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews including special nieces, Jo Johnson, Pat Welch and Judy Britt. She is also survived by the caregivers from 3HC, Betty, Kay and Peggy.

She was preceded in death by her brother, William Howard Powell, and her sister, Thelma Johnson.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Home Health and Hospice, 2402 Wayne Memorial Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
