Ethel Bass Womble, 80, died Tuesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held today at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. Burial will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Womble was born in Wayne County to the late Henry K. Bass and Dora Wakins Bass. She retired from Cherry Hospital as a health care technician and was a member of Black Jack Grove Free Will Baptist Church.

Mrs. Womble is survived by her husband, Louance Franklin Womble Sr.; her daughter, Joan Ellen Williams and husband, W.J., of Grantham; her sons, Louance Franklin Womble Jr. and wife, Donna, of Pikeville and Sammy Eugene Womble and wife, Lovonne, of Pikeville; her brothers, Ed Bass and wife, Eleanor, of Goldsboro and Ollie Bass and wife, Brenda, of Iva, S.C.; her sister, Barbara B. Hughey and husband, John, of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren, one step-grandchild; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Scott Womble and her brothers, Floyd Raynor, Bill Bass and Jimmy Bass.

The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home following the funeral on Thursday, and other times at her daughter's home at 623 Grantham School Road, Goldsboro.
