RUFUS CROCKETT

Died Aug. 8, 2006

Retired United States Air Force Lt. Col. Rufus Lathan Crockett, 88, of Lutz, Fla., died Tuesday in Newland, N.C.

A service to celebrate his life was to be held today at 11 a.m. at the Old Crockett Home place in Lancaster, S.C., with Pastor William B. Sumner, retired USAF Major General William Gilbert, and retired USAF Colonel Malcom Jewell officiating. Burial was to be in the Old Waxhaw Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

Lt. Col. Crockett was a son of the late Rufus Calhoun Crockett and Estelle Lathan Crockett. He was the former Deputy Assistant of Air Force Installations.

Survivors include his wife, Mary H. Crockett of Lutz, Fla.; one son, John Lathan Crockett of Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Marilyn Crockett Marion of Vero Beach, Fla.; and one grandson.

The family received friends at the home place, 2365 Riverside Road, Lancaster, S.C., on Thursday.

Lancaster Funeral Home & Cremation Service is serving the family.
