MOUNT OLIVE -- J.R. Cashwell, 80, of 350 Leon Flowers Road, died Saturday at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
Funeral services will be held tonight at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Rose officiating. Following the service, the family will remain at the funeral home to receive friends, and at other times at the residence.
Committal and interment will take place Monday at 11 a. m. in the Calypso Cemetery.
Born in Sampson County, Mr. Cashwell was the son of the late Raymond Worth Cashwell Sr. and Ruby Rich Cashwell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Martha McCullen Cashwell; daughter, Linda Carol Cashwell; sister, Mary Lillie Cashwell and brother, W. C. Cashwell.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Carlton "Toogie" and Peggy Cashwell of Calypso, Jackie and Ruth Cashwell of Mount Olive, Andy Cashwell of the home, and Randy and Mary Cashwell of Mount Olive; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy C. and Robert McCarty of Faison; sisters, Shirley C. Wells and Elizabeth C. Clarke, both of Calypso; brothers, Murray Cashwell of Mount Olive and Richard Cashwell of Kenansville; grandchildren, Jason Cashwell and wife, Marie, Inga C. Thurston and husband, Will, Brandon Cashwell, Skylar McCarty, Shaily McCarty, Caleb Cashwell and Ivey Cashwell; great-grandchildren, Hunter Thurston, Haley Thurston, Ellie Cashwell, and Emma Cashwell.
