SALLIE HARDY

MOUNT OLIVE -- Sallie Williams Hardy, 83, died Wednesday at her home.

The funeral will be held this evening at 7 in the chapel of Tyndall Funeral Home. The Rev. Steve Ruberg, the Rev. Richard Hathaway, and Dr. James Johnson will officiate. Interment will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at Pineview Cemetery near Seven Springs.

Mrs. Hardy was a member of the Salem Advent Christian Church. She was retired from the Wayne County Public School System, having been a lunchroom employee at Carver Elementary School in Mount Olive. In recent years she had been employed with Barwick's Fruit Stand at Mount Olive.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sherri Dee Hardy Harvell and George Harvell, with whom she shared her home; two sisters, Esther Williams Hardy of Norfolk, Va., and Dora Williams Beavers of Seven Springs; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Grover Williams, and Donald and Ruby Williams, all of Seven Springs; five grandchildren, Will Harvell and Ethan Harvell, both of the home, Allen Hardy of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Amy Hardy Johnson and husband, Dr. James Johnson of Merrimac, Mass., and Amber Hardy of Dunn; and two great-grandchildren, James Harvey "Trey" Johnson III, and Ashley Nicole Hardy.

She was preceded in death by a son, Haywood Uriah "Shorty" Hardy; her husband, Albert A. Hardy; her parents, Jesse Paul and Emma Edwards Williams; a brother, James Herbert "Buck" Williams; and two sisters, Johnnie Williams Summerlin and Olive Williams Jones.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following funeral, and other times at the residence at 303 Old Seven Springs Road.
