KINSTON -- Donald Lee Brown, 55, of 767 Clark Drive, died Monday at Lenoir Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home in LaGrange. Bishop Gary Whaley will officiate. A committal service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the Harper Family Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was born in Lenoir County to the late Sargett and Sudie Stanley Brown. He had a great love for his grandchildren, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Rose Carlyle Brown; two sons, Donald James "D.J." Brown, and his special friend, Felecia, of Kinston and Scott Smith and his wife, Beth, of Kinston; one stepson, Carlos Sonny Rodriguez, and his special friend, Shannon, of Kinston; three brothers, Sargett Brown Jr. of Kinston, Clarence Brown of Deep Run and Mike Brown of Pink Hill; half brother, Durwood Elwood Tyndall of Deep Run; three sisters, Ann Wisener of Oklahoma, Alice Daughety of Vine Swamp and Faye Batchelor of Albertson; half sister, Louise Jones of Deep Run; four grandchildren, Alex, Aaron, Alyssa and Victoria; father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Marie Carlyle of Kinston; brothers-in-law, Tony Carlyle of Stacy and Freddie Neal, and his wife, Diane, of Kinston; special family friend, Shirley Mayo of Dover; his canine companion, Shadow Bug; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service on Thursday night, and other times at the residence.
