LESTER HOWARD

FAYETTEVILLE -- Lester Worth Howard, 82, of 3800 Dunn Road, Fayetteville, died Thursday at Bethesda Health Care in Eastover.

He was born in Warsaw to the late Bennie Worth Howard and Roberta Boone Howard.

He was retired from Rankin Brothers in Fayetteville, where he worked 20 years as a machine operator.

He was a member of Sansom Community Church, where he had served as a trustee and usher until his illness in December 2000.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Sansom Community Church, with the Rev. Jerome Pope, the Rev. Erfie Hayes and David Morrison officiating.

Burial will follow at Devotional Gardens in Warsaw.

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Dorman Howard, of the home; daughter, Hazel Horton of Spring Lake; son, Bennie Howard of Spring Lake; sister, Hazel H. Lewis of Dunn; stepsons, Billy Hall of Falcon and Jimmy Hall of Dunn; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great grandchildren.

The family received friends Saturday at the Cromartie, Miller and Lee Funeral Home in Dunn. Family and friends may visit the home in Eastover.
