SNOW HILL -- Mary Marshburn Newcomb, 81, died Monday following an extended period of declining health.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Snow Hill Cemetery. The Rev. David Tripp will officiate.

Mrs. Newcomb was the daughter of George Robert and Pene Whaley Marshburn and the widow of Eugene Clayton Newcomb. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church of Snow Hill.

She is survived by daughters, Jo Ann Little of LaGrange, Carolyn McNeill of Washington, Patricia Jones of Snow Hill and Mary Lou Sutton of Winterville; one son, Fred Newcomb of Snow Hill; sisters, Beulah Pritchett of Savannah, Ga., and Lottie Whitley of Potters Hill; brothers, James Lee Bell of Tennessee and J.C. Whaley of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Taylor-Tyson Funeral Service, and other times at the residence, 105 Greenridge Road, Snow Hill
