MOUNT OLIVE -- Kenneth Ira Best, 83, of 2808 Summerlin's Crossroads Road, died today at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be held Sunday at 3:30 p.m. at the Kenneth Best Family Cemetery near the residence with the Rev. Michael Whitesides officiating.
Mr.. Best was a graduate of Calypso High School and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a farmer and a member of Bear Marsh Missionary Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Tempie Barwick Best; four children, Debbie B. Henderson, and her husband, Jay; John Best and his wife, Pam; Lynn Best; and Mack Best and his wife, Brenda, all of the Mount Olive area; 10 grandchildren, Michael Best, Wade Best, Windy Best, Chris Henderson, Jeff Brock, Lisa Deaver, and Teresa Waters, all of Mount Olive, Rebecca Sasser of Goldsboro, Kelly Best of Kernersville, and Jeremy Henderson of Palmdale, Calif.; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, N. B. "Pole" and Mary King Best, along with his brother, Melvin Best.
The Best family will receive friends at the residence.
Arrangements are with Tyndall Funeral Home.
