DONALD RAY ELLIOTT

Retired Air Force Master Sgt. Donald Ray Elliott, 57, of 106 Queen Drive, LaGrange, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home & Crematory. The Rev. Timothy Creel and the Rev. David Hayes will officiate. Burial, with full military honors, will be in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Elliott was born in Apex to the late Claiborne Elliott and Margaret Hardy Elliott. He retired from the Air Force while stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, having served in the Vietnam War and Desert Shield/Desert Storm. During his career, he received many decorations including the Meritorious Service Award, the Liberation of Kuwait Medal presented by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal with one Bronze Star and the Vietnam Service Medal. After retiring from the military, he remained at Seymour Johnson AFB as a civil service employee. He later worked with North Carolina State University and was currently employed at O'Berry Center in Goldsboro.

He is survived by his wife, Patsy Yates Elliott; one son, Michael Elliott and his wife, Denise, of Goldsboro; one daughter, Melanie Elliott Harper, and her husband, Jonathan, of Goldsboro; and four grandchildren, Jonathan Mullen, Cameron Elliott, Hannah Harper and Thomas Harper.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro, and other times at the residence.
