SARA D. FONVIELLE

Sara Dees Fonvielle, 83, died Saturday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A native of Goldsboro, she was born May 26, 1923, the daughter of the late William Archie and Mahala "May" Smith Dees. She was the widow of John O. "Jack" Fonvielle. Mrs. Fonvielle was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She will be remembered, especially for her independence and sense of humor.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Willow Dale Cemetery with Rev. Drew Clark officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the home of John and Georgia Dees, 707 E. Mulberry Street, Goldsboro.

Mrs. Fonvielle was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.

Surviving are two sons, John Keaton Fonvielle and his wife, Betsy, of Shelby, N.C., and William L. "Bill" Fonvielle of Alexandria, Va.; three granddaughters, Eden Fonvielle of Charleston, S.C., and Erica and Caroline Fonvielle of Wilmington, N.C.; a grandson, Jason Lineberger of Shelby, N.C.; and three great-grandchildren, Madeleine, Miles and Harper Lineberger.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Fonvielle was preceded in death by a sister, Ann D. Dees, and a brother, William A. "Bill" Dees, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1101 E. Ash St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530; the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C., 27834; or to the charity of one's choice.
