HILDA HINNANT

Hilda Pate Hinnant, 80, of 2900 Salem Church Road, died Thursday evening at her home surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Hinnant was born in Wayne County to the late Dwight Lyman Pate, Sr. and Bessie West Pate. She was married to Hugh Garland Hinnant, who preceded her in death on March 25, 1993.

Mrs. Hinnant had worked with WAGES Head Start Program in Goldsboro. She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, where she served as choir director for many years. Mrs. Hinnant was also a member of the Goldsboro Women's Club.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Neal Wingfield officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Mrs. Hinnant is survived by her daughter, Sharon Cogdell and husband Michael of Rocky Mount; her son, Michael Hinnant and wife Janet, of Goldsboro; her granddaughter, Michelle C. Johnston and husband Scott; her grandson, Alan M. Hinnant; her great-grandchildren, Foster Johnston, Elyse Johnston and Davis Johnston.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Rudoph Pate and Dwight Pate.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church for the Salem Hall Renovation Project, 2706 Salem Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530 or the American Cancer Society, 930-B Wellness Drive, Greenville, N.C. 27834.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6-8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.
