MOREHEAD CITY--Carolyn Ann Laine, 70, of Morehead City died Tuesday at home.

She was born in Southport to the late Captain Oscar Kunst "O.K." and Mattie O'Daniel Laine. She was a graduate of Meredith College with a degree in early childhood education. She taught school in the Goldsboro City and Wayne County Public Schools for forty-two years. Carolyn was Wayne County Teacher of the Year in 1971. She was a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa International Sorority for Educators and Carteret County Association of Retired School Personnel. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

After retiring Carolyn enjoyed volunteering at the Carteret County Historical Society and spending time relaxing at the beach.

Her funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Royal officiating. Burial will follow at Bay View Cemetery.

She is survived by cousin Bobby O'Daniel and wife Judy of Goldsboro; special friends Derryl and Jane Garner of Newport, and Kevin Jones of Goldsboro.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mabel Louise Laine.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m.
