FREMONT--Nathan Rose Davis, 71, of 2356 Davis Mill Road, went to be with his Lord and Savior today.

Mr. Davis was born in Wayne County to the late Elder Nathan S. Davis and Mary D. Davis. Mr. Davis was a faithful member of Faith Free Will Baptist Church for 38 years where he served as a trustee, Sunday School bus driver, and had volunteered for various jobs in the church.

He was retired from General Electric and had been an instructor for small engines at Wayne Community College. He was president of the Eureka Ruritan Club and had also served as past president. Mr. Davis had served as a member of the board of directors for the Eureka Volunteer Fire Department.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Faith Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Dann Patrick officiating. Interment will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Eureka Town Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Hazel Sauls Davis; daughters, Rose Whitley and husband, Richard, of Eureka; Judy Bodet and husband, Roy, of Elgin, S.C.; and Beth Gwaltney and husband, Todd, of Eureka; sons, Sam Davis and wife, Roxie, of Princeton; and David Davis and wife, Crystal, of Eureka; grandchildren, Brooke Whitley, Chris Ream, Steven Gwaltney, Daniel Gwaltney, Charity Davis, Hunter Davis, Kayla Davis, Nichole Davis, and Joshua Davis; and special friends, Richard and Bobbie Yelverton of Goldsboro.

Flowers are welcomed or memorials may be made to Faith FWB Church, 1200 W. Grantham Street, Goldsboro, N.C. 27530.

The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service at the church and will be at the residence at other times.

Arrangements are with Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
