F. BRUCE HARRIS

April 14, 1930-May 8, 2006

Mr. F. Bruce Harris, 76, of 1302 Park Avenue A, died Monday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital

Bruce was born in Scott, Arkansas, on April 14, 1930, to the late Quitman Harris and Mildred Guest Harris. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Marines. Bruce was a retired general sales manager with Nissan Corporation and Evans Ford in Kinston. In 1996, Bruce was awarded the Ambassador Award for distinguished efforts in service care and for two years was awarded the National Salesman of the Year by the Nissan Corporation.

Bruce's passion was golf and had two holes in one to his credit. If it was a beautiful day, he enjoyed being on the golf course with his friends. His proudest moment was when he was awarded the Dunes Club Golf Championship in 1986. Bruce was the first non-member recipient of this championship.

For those who knew him, Bruce will be remembered by his selfless ways, his smile, and his quick wit. He had a great sense of humor and will be missed by many.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Tom Norris, O.S.F.S., presiding. Burial will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes Farfour Harris; his daughter, Sandra Harris Shackleford and husband, Robert Steele Shackleford, of Raleigh; his aunt, Lucy Ham of Benton, Ark.; his niece, Amanda Harris of England, Ark.; and his nephew, Jimmy Harris of Jacksonville, Ark.

In addition to his parents, Bruce was preceded in death by his brother, Quinn Harris; and his aunt, Hattie Guest.

Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic School, 1601 Edgerton St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

A Rosary will be held Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and the family will receive friends following the service until 9 p.m.
