Died April 30, 2006

Retired U.S. Navy Chief Petty Officer Rodney Earl Holloman, 79, of 5724 Dobson Drive, Fayetteville, died Sunday at Womack Army Hospital at Fort Bragg.

He was a native of Mount Olive and was the youngest of nine children born to the late Norman and Carmie Smith Holloman. He served for 20 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring as chief petty officer, after which he served for another 20 years as food operations manager with the Army/Air Force Exchange Service. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Fayetteville First Ward.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive. Interment, with full military honors, will be at Wayne Memorial Park.

Mr. Holloman is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alma Dail Holloman, also a native of the Mount Olive area; three sons, Allan E. Holloman of Kent Island, Md., Nathan T. Holloman of Hazelwood, Mo., and Norman "Nick" Holloman of Morrisville; and 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 7 until 9 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, and at other times at the home of Mac and Sybil Lassiter, 304 West College Street, Mount Olive.
