George Washington Davis, 92, of 200 Camden Park Drive, died Wednesday at his home.

The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home. The Reverends Steve Holder and Willard Hardison will officiate. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Mr. Davis was a native of Wilson County and was the son of the late George Thomas and Lenora Kornegay Davis. He was a member of Bethel Assembly and Goldsboro Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. He was also a member of Wayne Masonic Lodge #112, the York Rite and Sudan Temple Shriners, and was a former member of Goldsboro Moose Lodge. He retired from the City of Goldsboro with 44 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Alice M. Davis; one son and daughter-in-law, Bert Leroy and Christine Davis of Goldsboro; three daughters and sons-in-law, Eunice and Bryan Rhodes of Hartsville, S.C., and Susie and Woody Woodward of Goldsboro and Carolyn and Russ Walter of Buffalo Gap, Texas; and 13 grandchildren 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Alice Fay Davis.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 tonight at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
