NEWTON GROVE -- Fonnie Mae Best Knowles, 86, of Raleigh, formerly of Newton Grove, died Tuesday.

The funeral will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at St. Paul Free Will Baptist Church. The Reverends Timothy Marriner and Rolland Harrell will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Mrs. Knowles is survived by three daughters and sons-in-law, Verna and Shelton Keene of Mount Olive, Barbara and James Williford of Raleigh, and Wanda and Jeffrey Capps of Clayton; one son and daughter-in-law, Jimmie and Portia Knowles of Apex; one sister, Susie Peterson of Raleigh; three brothers, William B. Best of Raleigh, Dixon Best of Newton Grove and Troy Best of Morehead City; and eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Millus William Knowles; one granddaughter, Tina Denton; her parents, Thomas and Lela Best; one brother, T.L. Best; and one sister, Mildred Pittman.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at West & Dunn Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Verna and Shelton Keene, 1688 Raynor Mill Road, Mount Olive.
