ALLEN F. VERNON
June 26, 1932-April. 12, 2006
Allen Franklin Vernon, 73, died Wednesday at Mount Vernon Nursing Center in Alexandria, Va. Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Floyd and Myrtie Mae Thornton Vernon and husband to the late Kathleen Hill Vernon. He was preceded in death by brothers Guy "Bubba" Vernon, Ricky Vernon & Eddie Vernon.
Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Calypso Cemetery with Maj. Andrew Willey officiating.
Mr. Vernon is survived by daughters Amber Vernon of Goldsboro, Debra Vernon of Pikeville; son Michael Eugene Vernon of Silver Springs, Md.; sister Alma Louise Miller of Pikeville; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
In addition to flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Salvation Army, 610 N. William St. in Goldsboro.
Family members will greet friends at the graveside immediately following the service.
The family is being served by Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
