REV. GENELL ROSE

September 3, 1926-April 14, 2006

SELMA--Rev. Genell Rose, 79, of Lizzie Street in Selma, died Friday at his home. Born in Johnston County on September 3, 1926. He was the son of the late Clyde and Lonnie Renfrow Rose Anderson. He was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tonya Lynn Merritt. Rev. Rose pastored seven churches in North Carolina during his career and was a Business Deacon for the entire Church of God Denomination. He was a member of the Church of God in Princeton. Rev. Rose also worked for Pyrofax Gas in Goldsboro for 40 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home in Selma with Rev. Kevin Adkins, Rev. Guy Robinson, and Rev. Russell Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Selma Memorial Gardens.

Surviving are his wife, Dorthalene Batten Rose; son Ronnie Genell Rose and wife Nelda of Rolesville; daughters Linda Rose Merritt and husband Harry of Clinton, Darlene Rose Williford and husband Mike of Pikeville; sister, Reba Lancaster of Pikeville; grandchildren, Marcus Merritt Daniel, Genell Rose, Kimberly Rose, and Dane Williford; and one great grandson, Grayson Genell Rose.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday night from 7-9 p.m.
