Frances Gray Isler, 73, of 104 Hines Drive, died Sunday at home.

The funeral will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Saint Matthews Free Will Baptist Church in LaGrange. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Elder Nebraska Graham will officiate.

Mrs. Isler was born in Lenoir County to the late Willie Gray and Eliza Wooten Gray. She attended Frink High School, Wayne Community and North Carolina Wesleyan colleges and North Carolina Central University. After retiring from Cherry Hospital, she opened First Academy Child Development Center.

She is survived by two grandsons, Steven L. Jackson of Goldsboro and his father, Steven Jackson; and Alfred L. Graham of Goldsboro and his father, Nebraska Graham; one goddaughter, Debbie Embden of Valdosta, Ga.; eight god-grandchildren, Chrystal Locklear, Tiffany Embden, Spencer Embden, Pearlie Parks Davis, Michael Parks, Lou Cindy Parks Blount, Thomas Parks, Jr. and Adrian Parks; two sisters, Irene Kinsey and her husband, Leo, and Elenor Jones of LaGrange; four brothers, Willie Gray Jr. and his wife, Ethel Mae, of LaGrange, James E. Gray and his wife, Annie Louise, and Herbert Gray and his wife, Charlotte, of Goldsboro and Oscar Gray and his wife, Mary, of Marlboro, Md.; one sister-in-law, Annie P. Haywood and her husband, Charles, of Raleigh; one brother-in-law, Cleo Isler and his wife, Donnie, of Goldsboro; one great-aunt, Fannie Gray of LaGrange; two special friends, Thelma Rouse and Linda Parks; two nieces, Carolyn Kinsey Ellis and Anniex Kinsey; one nephew, James C. Gray; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Isler was preceded in death by her husband, James Isler; and three children, Dorothy Isler Graham, James Allen Isler and Patricia Isler Jackson.

A viewing will be held on Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro. The family will receive friends at the residence, 104 Hines Drive in Goldsboro.
