ALEX McFATTER

Alex McFatter, 81, of Marigold St., died Saturday at his residence.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home. The Rev. Danny Freuler will officiate. Burial will include military honors and will be in Wayne Memorial Park.
Mr. McFatter was born in Johnston County to the late Waverly and Nancy Price McFatter. He was married to the late Pearl Toler McFatter for 58 years.
A master in millwork and cabinetry, he owned and operated McFatter Woodworks Inc. for 52 years. He was a member of Oak Heights Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church, where he was a trustee and was president of the Christian Fellowship Class for 43 years. He served in the United States Army during World War II and was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon, the Bronze Battle Star, the Purple Heart, and the Good Conduct Medal.
He is survived by his daughter, Joyce McFatter Borkowski, and her husband, Robert, of Goldsboro; his daughter-in-law, Barbara Lewis McFatter of Raleigh; his sister, Nancy Cornelia Marcom of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Jody Borkowski Carter and husband Kevin, Stephanie Borkowski Thomas and husband Bill, Steven Borkowski, Lorienda McFatter Strickland and husband Larry, Johnny McFatter and wife Missy, Dana McFatter Ennis, and David McFatter and wife Serena; and his step-grandchildren, Jonathan Crawford and wife Kristi; and Lisa Crawford Searle and husband Michael; great-grandchildren, Madeline Thomas, Ariel Strickland, Savannah Strickland, Cameron McFatter, Cole McFatter, Drake Ennis, Costin Searle, and Brianna Crawford; his special friends, Wayne and Charlotte Perry; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. McFatter was preceded in death by a sons, Johnny Carroll "J. C." McFatter; an infant son, Eddie Harold McFatter; an infant daughter, Linda Hope McFatter; two sisters, Margaret McFatter Thompson and Rachel McFatter Johnson; and two brothers, Walter, Thurman, and Waverly "Jr." McFatter.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 9 at the funeral home, and will be at the residence at other times.
