WILSON -- Beulah "Bea" Farmer Weitz, 85, died Wednesday.

She was born in Wilson County and was the daughter of Herbert and Mamie Barnes Farmer. She was raised at Kennedy Home in Kinston and graduated from LaGrange High School, Atlantic Christian College and Carolina School of Nursing in Wilson. She was U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a lifetime member of the World War II Flight Nurses Association. After serving in the Army, she flew with Pan American Airlines, based out of San Francisco, Calif., and later worked at San Francisco General Hospital until her retirement. She returned to North Carolina in 2000 and was a resident at the Fountains at the Albermarle in Tarboro.

She is survived by a sister-in-law and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service with military honors was held today at 11 a.m. at Peoples Chapel Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery in Elm City.

The family received friends Thursday evening at Bowling Funeral Home, and other times at the home of Ronnie Williford, 4351 Arlington Street Ext., Rocky Mount.
