ELIZABETH JOHNSON

WILMINGTON -- Elizabeth Lorraine Chestnut Johnson, 81, mother of William F. Johnson Jr. of Goldsboro, died Sunday at Mariner HealthCare Center.

A celebration of life ceremony will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel. Interment will be in Oleander Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Johnson was a native of Greensboro and was the daughter of the late Norwood Chestnut and Lula Snipes Chestnut and the widow of William F. Johnson. She was a member of Sunset Park Baptist Church and was a former member of Wrightsville Beach Baptist Church, where she had served as pianist, Sunday school teacher and secretary. She also had served as pianist at Castle Hayne Baptist Church. She was a member of Lay Renewal teams and was a former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

In addition to her son, she is survived by four daughters, Brenda Crumpler of Clayton, Rebecca Wroten of Wilmington and Bonnie Lough and Barbara Johnson of Wrightsville Beach; another son, Brad Johnson of Wilmington; and 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Another daughter, Beverly Lorraine Johnson, preceded her in death.

Visiting hours will be this evening from 6 until 8 at Andrews Mortuary Valley Chapel, 4108 S. College Road, Wilmington.

Memorial donations may be made to Sunset Park Baptist Church.
