WILLIAM LANIER

Oct. 4, 1929-March 28, 2006

William Earl Lanier, 76, died Tuesday night at his home in the Grantham community.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Amos Lanier Cemetery in Chinquapin. The Rev. Norman Aycock will officiate.

Mr. Lanier was a native of Chinquapin and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. His parents were the late John William and Edna Raynor Lanier. He retired as a service technician with Goldsboro Milling Company.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dorothy Henderson Lanier of the home; a daughter, Jo Lanier Burch of Mount Olive; a son and daughter-in-law, Ranny and Anita Lanier of Dudley; another daughter-in-law, Debbie Lanier of Goldsboro; a brother, Roy Allen, and his wife, Marie, of Chinquapin; two sisters, Hazel Henderson, and her husband, Jack, of Chinquapin and Darlene Mobley of Chinquapin; eight grandchildren, Paul Bryan, Mitzi Bryan, Courtney King and husband Andy, Trey Braswell, Taylor Braswell, Ashley Lanier, Amber Lanier and Abbie Lanier; and two great-grandchildren, Colton Taylor and Gage Bryan.

He was preceded in death by a son, Steve Lanier, and a son-in-law, Tommy Burch.

The family will receive friends at the residence at 712 Overman Road.

Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive is serving the family.
