MOUNT OLIVE -- Charles Anderson Batten Jr., 80, died Wednesday morning at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The Rev. Donald Daniels will officiate.
Mr. Batten was born in Johnston County to the late Charles Batten Sr. and Ida Hales Batten. He was a member of the Salvation Army Church. He retired from Wayne Plumbing and Heating and worked with the Wayne County Landfill until his health declined.
He is survived by his wife, Ada L. Batten; one daughter, Debbie Jones and her husband, James, of Mount Olive; two grandchildren, Wendy Jones and Jamie Howell and her husband, Benny; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Howell, Corey Howell, Justin Cotton and Noah Jones.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Howell Funeral Home & Crematory in Goldsboro, and other times at the home of James and Debbie Jones, 3193 Emmaus Church Road, Mt. Olive.
