RALEIGH -- William Robert Dees Jr., 49, died Monday of heart disease.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Fairmont United Methodist Church, 2501 Clark Avenue, Raleigh. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Fremont.
Mr. Dees was a graduate of Broughton High School and North Carolina State University. He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering. He served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Nimitz during the Iranian hostage crisis. Through the years he had worked as an electrical engineer in the medical and agricultural industries.
He is survived by his parents, William R. and Elizabeth Jane Dees, and two sisters, Jane Vogel and Barbara Mangold.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the SPCA of Wake County.
The family is being served by Shackleford-Howell Fune-ral Home in Fremont.
