MAURICE H. LAMM
March 20, 1925-March 13, 2006
Maurice Hall Lamm, 80, died Monday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Lamm was born in Lucama in Wilson County on March 20, 1925, to the late Wiley Lamm and Myrtie Davis Lamm. Sgt. Lamm served his country during W.W.II in the Pacific Theatre as a member of a B-29 Bomber Squadron from 1943 to 1946. After graduating from N.C. State University in 1950 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, he was employed at Engineer Research and Development Laboratories in Fort Belvoir, Va. He was a part of the Corps of Engineers that was instrumental in the construction of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and later transferred as chief for the Civil Engineer Department of the United States Government at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base. After retirement from Civil Service in 1981, he worked as a Life Underwriter as an insurance salesman and broker. Mr. Lamm had been active member of St. Luke United Methodist Church and had served as chairman of the Administrative Board, past president of the United Methodist Men and past president of the Friendship Sunday School Class. He was past president of the New Hope Ruritan Club, and was past president of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Mr. Lamm had been active in the Tuesday Morning Prayer Breakfast Group at Wilber's and was a member of the Gospel Heirs Quartet at St. Luke United Methodist Church. He had been an active member of United Church Ministries in Wayne County.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Luke United Methodist Church with Rev. David Harvin, Rev. Frank Purvis and Rev. Steve Gillette officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Wilson.
Mr. Lamm is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elaine Williamson Lamm; his daughters, Dr. Linda Lamm Gerard and husband, James P. Gerard, of Savannah, Ga.; Marcia Lamm Stoneman and husband, David A. Stoneman, of Hendersonville; and Lisa Ann Lamm of Goldsboro; his son, Randy Maurice Lamm and wife, Terese, of Cary; his grandchildren, Carly Elaine Stoneman, Ashley Susanne Gerard, Stephanie Renee Lamm, Rachel Marie Lamm and Trevor Scott Lamm. He is also survived by the Tran Family who was sponsored by the Goldsboro District of the United Methodist Church
He was preceded in death by his sister, Nell Lamm, and his brother, Durwood Lamm.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, and other times at the residence.
