Jason Thomas Pate Sr., 79, of 968 Rosewood Road, died Friday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Pate was born in Wayne County on May 29, 1926, to the late J. D. Pate and Martha Chambers Pate. He was founder of Wayne Electric Company, Inc. Mr. Pate attended Goldsboro High School and graduated with honors from the Electrical Contractors School in Kansas City. He was one of the founders of the Rosewood Fire Department and was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis. Mr. Pate was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of Pine Forest United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Pine Forest United Methodist Church. The Rev. Billy Olson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Pine Forest United Methodist Church Cemetery. Members of the Golden K Kiwanis will be pallbearers.

Mr. Pate is survived by his wife of 61 years, Doris Jones Pate; his son, Tommy Pate and wife, Kathy of Goldsboro; his daughter, Deborah Vogel and husband, Don of Greer, S.C.; his grandchildren, Jason Thomas Pate III, Mary-Kathryn Pate, Nancy Brislin and Adam Vogel and three great-grandchildren. He was the last survivor of 14 children.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pine Forest United Methodist Church Buildlng Fund, 867 S. NC 581 Hwy., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends today from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home.
