MARTHA SYKES
Died March 8, 2006
WALLACE -- Martha Jean Wells Sykes, 73, died Wednesday.
The funeral was held today at 10 a.m. at Wallace Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Phil Gladden and Dr. Jim Baldwin officiating. Burial was in Rockfish Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of Padgett Funeral Home.
A Duplin County native, Mrs. Sykes was the daughter of James Ellis Wells Jr. and Martha Elizabeth Johnston Wells and was the widow of James Ross "Bud" Sykes Sr. She was a member of Wallace Presbyterian Church, was a charter member of the Wallace Revitalization Association and was a former librarian at the Thelma Dingus Bryant Library in Wallace.
She is survived by one daughter, Shella Jean Sykes Farrior of Wallace; one son, James Sykes Jr. of Wallace and three grandchildren.
The family received friends at the residence at 5390 NC 41 S., Wallace
