David Elmo Foy, 51, an American patriot, warrior, and hero, was killed Thursday, March 2, 2006 by a suicide bomber outside the United States Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan.
Mr. Foy was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas and had been working since 2003 with the United States State Department, and was assigned to Pakistan last September as a facilities maintenance officer. He had worked as a Foreign Service officer after more than 20 years of service in the United States Navy, and several years as a civilian employee at Fort Bragg. While serving his country in the United States Navy, he was awarded the Navy Medal of Honor.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at 6 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Reverends Jimmy Whitfield and Bill Rose will officiate. Military honors will follow the service.
Mr. Foy is survived by his wife, Donna Foy; four daughters, Suzette Hartwell, Cherish Foy, Chandra Jackson, and Tamara Foy; and two grandchildren, Tyler James Elmo Jackson and Callie Hartwell. He is also survived by his siblings, Jimmy, Dorothy, and Pinkie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his memory may be made to the American National Red Cross, 600 N. George Street, Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
The family will receive friends Tuesday following the service at the church.
